It was 2005 -- Ashley had just started college while Bobby was focusing on photography. During her first week of class, Ashley was invited to a birthday party in the Inland Empire. The thought of traveling over an hour to an area of California she had never visited sounded dreadful. Begrudgingly she went. Little did she know that a grungy young man sitting quietly in the corner would change her life forever. He managed to win her over with a bit mystery, a lot humor and some weird balloon tossing. Something clicked and they shared their first kiss on the stairs of his apartment. After exchanging numbers that magical night ended. Ashley was hopeful he would call. Bobby had no doubt she was special.
Bobby and I spent the following years growing up together. We became best friends and each other’s creative inspirations. We overcame obstacles, learning to love hard and fight even harder for that love. We created a home together in Los Angeles. Here, Bobby learned that “his” side of the sink really meant “her” side. I learned that 6am on Saturdays meant the start of a daylong event called, “Soccer Day”. Most importantly we shared our families with each other. I now had a family that loved me in Rialto and Bobby had a family that loved him in Signal Hill.
Two years ago, on a warm California Christmas Bobby got down on one knee and promised to never stop loving me. Through tears I promised the same, snatching the engagement ring out of the box before he could slip it onto my finger. I ain’t sorry (:
After so many years together we can’t believe we’re finally here! We love you all and can’t wait to celebrate and dance with you!
